Species Name: Gelidium pusillum
Authority: (Stackhouse) Le Jolis 1863
Range:
Widespread throughout the world
Natural Environment:
Forms mat-like growths on upper rocky intertidal areas
Aquarium Suitability:
This wiry type turf algae likes bright light, very good water movement, and a nutrient rich environment. Its best to remove this nuisance species on anything that might enter the aquarium, as it may spread and crowd out other desired growths in the aquarium. A difficult species to eradicate once it gets a foothold in the aquarium.
