Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: East Africa south to Durban South Africa, east o Tuamotu Islands, north Hawaiian Islands and Southern Japan, and south to Great Barrier Reef. Also the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Gulf of California to the Galapagos.

Size: 24 inches (70 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits seaward reefs and usually found at depths between 3 – 100 feet (1 – 30 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not collected for the trade.
