Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: India to Vanuatu, north to Southern Japan, and south to New Caledonia.

Size: 16 inches (40 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits channel areas in outer reef areas rich in coral growth and usually found at depths between 6 – 65 feet (2 – 20 m) where it feeds mainly on algae.

General Husbandry: Colors vary between sexes and its stage of growth (phase). Not collected for the trade.
