Range: Eastern Pacific Ocean: Southern California to Peru, including Galapagos Islands.
Size: 12 inches (31 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky, muddy, and sandy bottom areas in shallow coastal waters at depths between 6 to 150 feet (2 – 45 m) and feeds mainly on worms, crabs, shrimp and small fishes.
General Husbandry: Has an elongated silvery body with one centrally located horizontal yellow band. Not purposely collected for the hobby - probably needs deworming before being placed in an aquarium, and a meaty diet with six to eight feedings per day. Will also decimate aquarium benthic invertebrate population, and eat any small fishes in a very short peroid of time. A cool water species.
