Range: Indian Ocean: Red Sea to South Africa and east to Sumatra, Indonesia, and also seen in the Mediterranean Sea.

Size: 14 inches (35 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits muddy and rocky substrates on coastal reefs and can be found between 10 to 200 feet (3 – 60 m) where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a whitish body with reddish brown vertical stripes with its pectoral and dorsal fins quite long. Not purposely collected for the trade.

FYI: Shown here for identification only.

Often confused with other ‘Volitan-like’ species in this genus. Should this species show up in the trade, it would be ‘extremely’ rare, and would require the same care as other Volitan species.
