Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Cocos-Keeling and Christmas Islands to Hawaii, Line, Pitcairn, and Tuamotu Islands, also the Red Sea and possibly throughout Micronesia.

Size: 1 inch (3 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits rubble areas and crevices in reef channels on exposed reefs and can be found singly at depths between 15 to 200 feet (5 – 60 m), where it feeds on small fishes and crustaceans.

General Husbandry: Has a mottled reddish body. Not collected for the trade.

FYI: A hawkfish-like species dwelling on substrates waiting for a meal to come close enough to be captured and eaten.
