Common Name: Gigantic Sea/Carpet Anemone
Species Name: Stichodactyla gigantea Forsskål, 1775
Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to the Solomon Islands
Natural Environment: Lives singly on coral rubble hiding most of its body at a depth between 6 to 60 feet (2 - 20 m)
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 to 82°F (22 - 27°C) and requires several feedings per week of shrimp, squid, and/or silversides. Seems to do best in deep sandy substrates. May eat small fishes in the aquarium! Delicate, and prone to bacterial infections
S. gigantea is known to host the following species of anemonefishes: A. bicinctus, A. ocellaris, A. percula, A. perideraion, and A. rubrocinctus
