Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Florida and the northern Gulf of Mexico

Natural Environment: Inhabits sandy bottoms at depths of 15 to 90 feet (5 - 30 m)

General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 to 83°F (22 - 28°C) and is one of the more popular small aquarium species. Will feed upon a variety of meaty foods and two or three feedings per week is required. Has been known to survive in captivity for more than 30 years.
