Common Name: Tridacna Cone Snail
Species Name: Pyramidellidae sp.
Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean
Natural Environment: On giant clam shells
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 to 83°F (22 - 28°C). The Sixline Wrasse, Pseudocheilinus hexataenia , Fourline Wrasse P. tetrataenia, Christmas Wrasse Halichoeres ornatissimus, and Leopard Wrasse Macropharyngodon meleagris, may eat them. I have taken clams that were severely infested out of the aquarium where possible and brushed their sides while holding them in a separate container of seawater. I also recommend clam sides be cleaned with a toothbrush or fingernail brush prior to being placed in the aquarium. I have found the Xmas Wrasse best at eliminating these pest snails, and also any other small snails in the aquarium (good or bad).
