Common Name: Catalina Cleaner Shrimp
Species Name: Lysmata californica (Stimpson, 1866)
Range: West Coast of North America
Natural Environment: Caves and rocky areas
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 50 to 68°F (10 - 20°C). A cool water species normally found in groups of several hundred. Requires a meaty diet and should be fed once a day. Larger than L. wurdemanni, and a darker red color. Not suited for tropical aquariums, yet often appears misidentified in the trade as the "Peppermint Shrimp" and does not effectively control unwanted Aiptasia anemones.
