Goatfishes

These fishes belong in the "Order Perciformes" and "Suborder Percoidei" as members of the "Family Mullidae" (Goatfishes) consisting of 6 genera, with 55 species.

Goatfishes have two, strong barbels/whiskers on their chin which are used for digging and sensing prey. They are peaceful and as juveniles, make good sand stirrers. In nature, they favor shallow protected bays and lagoons. Their diet consists mainly of benthic invertebrate.
