Species Name: Choerodon fasciatus (Günther, 1867)


Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Ryukyu Islands to Taiwan, New Caledonia, and Queensland Australia


Size: Up to 10 in (25 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit sandy and coral rubble areas in shallow reefs


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 76 - 83°F (25 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of benthic invertebrate. These none-burrowing wrasses will eat snails, clams, shrimp, brittle stars, sea stars, and urchins. Requires a meaty diet, including fortified brine shrimp, mysis, black worms and other meaty type frozen foods. Needs two or three feedings per day. Should be housed with fishes large enough not to be eaten and/or bullied.
