Species Name: Plectorhinchus pictus (Tortonese, 1936)


Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Persian Gulf to Sri Lanka


Size: Up to 32 in (80 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit protected lagoons and seaward reefs


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of benthic invertebrate. Need a meaty diet, and requires two or three feedings per day. More or less a public aquarium fish, as its size is far too large for most hobbyist aquariums. Will eat snails and shrimp. Provide lots of swimming room, however, also needs an ample amount of hiding places.
