Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa to Japan, south to New Caledonia
Size: Up to 40 in (100 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit shallow coastal reefs
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 80°F (22 - 27°C) and has a natural diet of benthic invertebrate and small fishes. More or less a public aquarium fish, as its size is far too large for most hobbyist aquariums. Require a meaty diet, i.e., chopped fresh fish or shrimp flesh, scallops, and squid, with two or three feedings per day and generally feeds at night. Rarely seen in the trade, probably better left in the wild.
