Species Name: Zebrasoma desjardinii (Bennett, 1836)


Range: Red Sea and western Indian Ocean


Size: Up to 16 in (40 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit protected bays where adults swim in pairs and juveniles live singly between rocks and corals


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and its natural diet consists mainly of algae. Requires a varied meaty diet, and several feedings per day. A non-cyanide collected species. This species can be distinguished from the Indo-Pacific Sailfin by the white dots that cover its nose area.
