Range: Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea to the Arabian Gulf
Size: Up to 16 in (40 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits reef plateaus, seaward reef edges, and also occurs in surge zones
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet consisting mostly of kelp and filamentous algae. Requires a varied vegetable diet, including fresh macroalgae, Spirulina, dried seaweed (nori), and enriched vegetable flakes with two or three feedings per day. Aggressive to new tankmates or similar looking fishes and needs plenty of space and open water areas to swim.
