Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Maldives, Andaman Sea, Christmas Islands, Philippines, Line and Ryukyu Islands, and Somoa
Size: Up to 16 in (40 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit reef flats and seaward slopes
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of algae. Requires well-oxygenated water and a large living space. Needs a varied vegetable diet, including fresh macroalgae, Spirulina, dried seaweed (nori), and enriched vegetable flakes with two or three feedings per day. Also requires good water current, and can get quite aggressive with age. Not long-lived in the aquarium. Rarely seen in the trade
