Range: Indian Ocean: East Africa to the Andaman Sea, Indonesia, Christmas Islands
Size: Up to 8 in (20 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit coastal reefs when there is sufficient algae to graze upon, however, will form large schools when food is absent and invade other fish areas where algae is present, such as damselfish territories
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet consisting mostly of algae. Requires a varied vegetable diet, including fresh macroalgae, Spirulina, dried seaweed, and enriched vegetable flakes and requires two or three feedings per day. Easily contracts Marine Ich. Needs good water current, one per aquarium, lots of algae to browse on, and can be aggressive.
