Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Hawaii and Tuamotu Islands, Ryukyu Islands, New Caledonia


Size: Up to 10 in (25 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit surge zones on seaward reefs


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of filamentous and calcareous algae. Requires a varied diet, including fresh macroalgae, Spirulina, dried seaweed (nori), and enriched vegetable flakes and some meaty foods with two or three feedings per day. Should have well-oxygenated water and a large living space. Rarely seen in the trade
