Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands and south to Great Barrier Reef


Size: Up to 40 in (100 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit deep lagoons, reef faces and reef slopes


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of smaller fishes and benthic invertebrate. Requires a meaty diet, i.e., chopped fish and/or shrimp flesh, mysis, scallop, frozen carnivore foods, with two or three feedings per day. Needs lots of swimming room, probably tanks that are at least 300 gallons. Rarely seen in the trade.
