Species Name: Macolor macularis Fowler, 1831


Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Maldives to Solomon Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, and south to New Caledonia


Size: Up to 24 in (60 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit lagoons, reef channels and outer reef faces


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 84°F (22 - 29°C) and has a natural diet of smaller fishes and benthic invertebrate. Requires a meaty diet, i.e., chopped fish and/or shrimp flesh, mysis, scallop, frozen carnivore foods, with two or three feedings per day. Don't house with fin-nippers such as triggerfish. Cute as a juvenile, but too large as an adult for most aquaria.
