Common Name: Grey Bamboo Shark

Species Name: Chiloscyllium griseum Müller & Henle, 1838

Range: Widespread in the Indo-Pacific Ocean

Size: Up to 30 in (75 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabit coral reefs in crevices and caves

General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet mainly of shrimp, worms, crabs and other crustaceans. Requires a meaty diet and fed three times a week. Require a large, well-filtered and well-oxygenated system with few environment obstructions, however, should have a large cave to hide in. Can not be treated with heavy metal solutions such as copper. Fresh seafood, such as shrimp, fish flesh, crab, scallops and freshwater mollies are welcomed. Do not house with large triggerfishes, angelfishes, wrasses, and pufferfishes as they can pick on the shark and cause skin and/or eye damage. One of the better home aquarium sharks and more than one in the same tank is feasible.
