Species Name: Hippocampus kuda Bleeker, 1852


Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: India, Pakistan, southern Japan, Hawaii and Society Islands


Size: Up to 12 in (30 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit protected coastal bays


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and its natural diet consists of zooplankton. Requires a meaty diet consisting of enriched live brine shrimp and/or enriched frozen mysis shrimp, with several feeding per day. One of the best aquarium seahorses and has been reared in captivity. Used in Chinese medicine. One of the more confusing group of seahorses as there is probably ten different species with the name "Kuda."
