Species Name: Serranus tortugarum Longley, 1935


Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Bermuda, Caribbean, and southern Florida


Size: Up to 3 in (7 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit leeward reef areas, rubble bottoms, sand channels, and sandy slopes


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 80°F (22 - 27°C) and have a natural diet of small fishes and crustaceans. They require meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh and should have at least one feeding per day. Very peaceful and can be kept in small groups where there is nothing too small to be eaten. Suitable for reef aquariums.
