Species Name: Sebastapistes coniorta Jenkins, 1903


Range: Central Pacific Ocean: Hawaiian Islands, Johnston Islands


Size: Up to 4 in (10 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit coral rich lagoons and reef flats usually hiding among coral branches


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of small fishes and shrimp. In captivity it generally requires live food, at least in the beginning. May be trained to take defrosted fish and shrimp flesh on a feeding stick, however, some will and some will not take it and die if not fed live foods. Requires a tank with a lot of coral rubble and rocks. Not often seen in the trade.
