Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Maldives to Fiji, Ryukyu Islands, Lord Howe Islands
Size: Up to 6 in (15cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit shallow lagoons and silty reefs
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of benthic invertebrate and small fishes. They are generally bottom dwellers, and aggressive towards smaller fishes, tubeworms, and ornamental shrimp. They require an open sandbed and a covered aquarium, as they are excellent jumpers if frightened. Should be housed in a tank where the majority of the sandbed is exposed. Requires a meaty diet with at least one feeding per day. Rarely seen in the trade.
