Range: Southwest Pacific Ocean: Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands, and New Zealand
Size: Up to 8 in (20 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit inshore and offshore rocky and coral reefs
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 68 - 77°F (20 - 25°C). In the wild it feeds upon various benthic invertebrate and small fishes. A slow moving fish needing much swimming space and requires a varied diet of fresh and frozen meaty foods with some green matter, and several feeding per day. Very hardy, however, rarely seen in the trade and better left in the wild. Basically a human food fish.
