Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Hawaiian and Mangareva Islands, Taiwan, Great Barrier Reef, Tonga
Size: Up to 7 inches (17 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit reef flats and protected seaward slopes, and found on hard substrates
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and has a natural diet of small fishes. These are ambush hunters that conceal themselves by burying themselves or simply remain still until something eatable comes close. Probably will only take live foods, such as grass shrimp and small fishes and usually feeds at night. Requires a meaty diet with at least one feeding per day. Not normally seen in the trade.
