Common Name: Honeycomb Podge / Basslet
Species Name: Pseudogramma polyacanthum (Bleeker, 1856)
Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Line, Marquesan, and Ducie Islands, north to southern Japan and Hawaiian Islands, south to Lord Howe Islands
Size: Up to 3 inches (7.5 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit shallow reef flats and fore-reef slopes containing coral rubble and stony corals
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of crustaceans. Requires a meaty diet, i.e., enriched chopped fish or shrimp flesh, and daily feedings. Does not produce toxic skin mucus. Non-aggressive, however, not yet seen in the trade that I know of. A secretive species and would require a dimly lit aquarium with many hiding places. Shown here for identification only.
