Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan to Australia and New South Wales Philippines, Indonesia, and New Guinea
Size: Up to 20 inches (50 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit coastal areas that have silty bottoms
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of small fishes and crustaceans. Requires a meaty diet, i.e., chopped fish and/or shrimp flesh, and two feedings per week. Prefers to be fed in late afternoons or early morning hours. Needs a large tank with hiding places and enhanced filtration as these fish are ambush predators and produce a large amount of waste products. Too large for most hobbyist systems.
