Species Name: Cryptocentrus strigilliceps (Jordan & Seale, 1906)


Range: Indo Pacific Ocean: East Africa to Samoa, north to Yaeyama Islands, and south to the northern Great Barrier Reef


Size: Up to 4 inches (10 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit silty bottom areas on protected reefs


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of small benthic invertebrate. In the wild it lives in association with alpheid shrimps. Requires a meaty diet such as enriched brine shrimp, mysis, and/or finely chopped fish/shrimp flesh, with one or two feedings per day. They should not be housed with aggressive fishes such as groupers, dottybacks, triggerfishes or aggressive angelfishes. Rarely seen in the trade.
