Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: Red Sea to South Africa, Indonesia, and the Philippines
Size: Up to 16 inches (40 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit lagoons and fringing reefs where sand collects
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of benthic invertebrate, yet will eat small fishes. Requires a meaty diet with numerous feedings per day. Needs a wide-open sandy bottom and lots of swimming space, with non-aggressive tankmates. Rarely seen in the trade.
