Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: Philippines to Samoa, north to southern Japan, and south to New Caledonia and Tonga

Size: Up to 15 inches (38 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabit lagoons and coastal sand and mud slopes

General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and their natural diet consists mainly of benthic invertebrate, yet will eat small fishes. Requires a meaty diet with numerous feedings per day. Needs a wide-open sandy bottom and lots of swimming space, with none-aggressive tankmates. Rarely seen in the trade, yet sometimes sold as the 'Red Goatfish.'
