Species Name: Gymnothorax javanicus (Bleeker, 1859)


Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: Red Sea, and East Africa to the Marquesas and Pitcairn Group, north to the Ryukyu and Hawaiian Islands, and south to New Caledonia


Size: Up to 115 inches / 9.7 feet (288 cm / 3 meters)


Natural Environment: Inhabits lagoons and seaward reefs


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C). Natural diet consists of crustaceans and fishes. Rarely seen in the trade - shown here for identification purposes only. Will attack humans. Gets too large for most hobbyist aquariums.
