Range: Indo-Pacific Ocean: East Africa to the Society Islands, yet not including the Hawaiian Islands, and Japan to Australia
Size: Up to 42 inches (105 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit shallow sandy areas in lagoons and also bottom muddy areas covered with rubble
General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C). Natural diet consists mainly of small fishes. Rarely seen in the trade - shown here for identification purposes only. Used in Chinese medicine.
