Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean: Seychelles, Maldives, Indonesia, Coral Sea, Hawaiian and Society Islands

Size: Up to 5 inches (12.5 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabit areas over sand and mud and takes refuge in burrows

General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature between 72 to 83°F (22 - 28°C). Natural diet consists mainly of benthic and pelagic crustaceans. . Requires a meaty diet, i.e., enriched brine shrimp, mysis, finely chopped fish or shrimp flesh, and other various frozen carnivore foods, with one or two feedings per day. They should not be housed with aggressive fishes such as groupers, dottybacks, triggerfishes or aggressive angelfishes. Rarely seen in the trade.
