Species Name: Dascyllus trimaculatus (Rüppell, 1828)


Range: Widespread in the Indo-Pacific and from eastern Africa to the Red Sea


Size: Up to 5.5 inches (14 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit coral and rocky reefs at depths between 3 to 150 feet (1 - 50 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C). Natural diet consists of zooplankton and benthic invertebrate. Requires a meaty diet with some algae with two or three feedings per day. Very hardy and cute when small, but devils when they mature. Juveniles are often commensal with large sea anemones. A good species to encourage the nitrification cycle in new aquariums. Captive bred.
