Common Name: Multistripe Cardinalfish

Species Name: Apogon multilineatus Bleeker, 1865


Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Sumatra to Solomon Islands, and north to Philippines


Size: Up to 4 inches (10 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit deep and shallow lagoons with coral heads, and found in small groups under ledges during the day


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 83°F (22 - 28°C) and natural diet consists mainly of crustaceans and worms. Will accept a wide variety of meaty foodstuffs and should have vitamin enriched foods with at least two feeding per day. Their diet should contain a color enhancer, such as Spirulina. Prefers a dimly lit environment with caves a can be maintained in small groups. May damage/eat small shrimp. Rarely seen in the trade.
