Species Name: Chaetodon speculum Cuvier, 1831


Range: Eastern and Western Pacific


Size: up to 6 inches (15 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit lagoon and outer reef areas at a depth of 10 to 100 feet (3 - 30 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 74 - 82°F (23 - 28°C) and natural diet consists of live corals, worms, clams, and crustaceans. Accepts most aquarium foodstuffs and is long lived in the aquarium. Difficult, but not impossible to feed in the aquarium. Difficult feeders should be given black worms. Do not keep with aggressive tankmates, and can be maintained in pairs or small groups.
