Species Name: Chaetodon semilarvatus Cuvier, 1831


Range: Red Sea and Gulf of Aden


Size: up to 10 inches (25 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit shallow back reef areas rich in coral growths at a depth of 10 to 60 feet (3 - 20 m)


General Husbandry: Prefer a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and natural diet consists of live corals, worms, clams, and crustaceans. Accepts most meaty foodstuffs and is long lived in the aquarium. Can be kept as an individual, in pairs or small groups. Best to buy small to medium size as it acclimates better to aquarium life. Will eat most hard and soft corals, clams and tubeworms, however, may be kept with Sinularia soft corals. Requires numerous feedings per day.
