Species Name: Chaetodon rainfordi McCulloch, 1923


Range: Southwestern Pacific Ocean: Great Barrier Reef and adjacent coastal areas and Lord Howe Island


Size: up to 6 inches (15 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit coastal and offshore reef areas at a depth of 3 to 50 feet (1 - 15 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 68 - 82°F (20 - 28°C) and natural diet consists of live corals and some algae. Requires a variety of frozen foods (meaty and algae) which can be supplemented with flake foods with numerous feedings per day. Provide caves and much coral rubble. Rarely seen in the trade, difficult to feed, and probably better left in nature!
