Range: Indian Ocean: Maldives, Reunion, Mauritius, Christmas and Cocos-Keeling Islands


Size: up to 5 inches (12 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit outer deep reef slopes, drop-offs and ledges at about 165 feet (50 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and natural diet consists of benthic invertebrates and some algae. Requires a variety of frozen foods (meaty and algae) and can be supplemented with flake foods with numerous feedings per day. Aggressive towards tankmates, yet considered a good choice for aquariums if maintained in a somewhat reef-like environment in small groups.
