Common Name: Meyer's Butterflyfish

Species Name: Chaetodon meyeri Bloch & Schneider, 1801


Range: Widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific, including Hawaii


Size: up to 7 inches (18 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabit shallow areas over rich coral growths at depths between 6 - 80 feet (2 - 25 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 74 - 82°F (23 - 28°C) and natural diet consists exclusively of live corals. Shy and extremely difficult to feed and only the most experienced hobbyists and those willing to provide to its needs should attempt keeping these butterflies. Honestly, it's better left in nature!
