Species Name: Chaetodon marleyi Regan, 1921


Range: Cape of South Africa


Size: up to 7 inches (18 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabits rocky and coral reefs and sometimes found in weedy estuaries at depths between 3 - 400 feet (1 - 120 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 64 - 70°F (18 - 21°C) and natural diet consists of algae and benthic invertebrates. Requires a variety of frozen foods (meaty and algae) which can be supplemented with flake foods with numerous feedings per day. Fairly easy to acclimate in the aquarium and rather hardy. Provide very open caves and crevices for it to hide in when feeling threatened or wanting rest. Considered a good choice for aquariums, however, very rare and also requires a cool water environment.
