Species Name: Chaetodon dolosus Ahl, 1923


Range: Western Indian Ocean: Somalia south to Natal South Africa and east to Madagascar


Size: up to 6 inches (15 cm)


Natural Environment: Inhabits deep offshore reefs over rock and rubble in depths from 120 to 500 feet (40 - 165 m)


General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 72 - 82°F (22 - 28°C) and natural diet consists of benthic invertebrates. Requires mostly an enriched meaty diet with some algae/green foods, and numerous feedings per day. Use black worms to get difficult feeders started. Provide a rocky environment with numerous open caves and coral rubble. Considered a good choice for aquariums, however rarely available.
