Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Philippines, northward to Japan

Size: up to 8 inches (20 cm)

Natural Environment: Inhabits coral reefs, except in Japan where it is found among rocky areas at depths of 15 - 70 feet (5 - 20 m)

General Husbandry: Has a temperature range of 70 - 82°F (21 - 28°C) and natural diet consists mainly of coral polyps and some algae, yet accepts a wide variety of foods in the aquarium. Requires numerous feedings per day. They are considered one of the most disease resistant butterflies. One to an aquarium as it can be quarrelsome with its own species. Provide a rocky environment with numerous open caves and coral rubble. If there's such a thing as the top best ten butterflies to keep, this is one of them.
