Species Name: Dinematichthys riukiuensis Aoyagi, 1952
Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Okinawa, Philippines, Queensland, and Fiji
Size: Up to 4 inches (10 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabits tidepools and lagoons, and found near and under coral heads at depths between 1 - 10 feet (1 - 3 m)
General Husbandry: Has a wide temperature range of 68 - 80°F (20 - 27°C) and natural diet consists mainly of small fishes and benthic invertebrate. Requires mostly live meaty foods, however, may take some frozen meaty foods and should have at least one feeding per day. A highly secretive and difficult fish to feed. Nice in small aquariums where the environment has few obstructions.
