Range: Western Atlantic Ocean: Florida Keys, Bahamas to northern South America
Size: up to 2.5 inches (6 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit recesses of coral reefs
General Husbandry: Prefer a temperature range of 72 - 79ºF (22 - 26ºC). They appear to be a solitary fish, and occur at depths of about 200 feet (65 m) hiding under rocks or in sand tunnels. Infrequently seen on the market. Natural diet consists mainly of zooplankton. Feed enriched meaty/freeze-dried foodstuffs daily. Should have numerous caves and hiding places and prefers a dimly lit environment. More than one can be kept in the same aquarium, however, usually high priced.
