Range: Western Pacific Ocean: Great Barrier Reef to New Guinea and Eastern Irian Jaya
Size: up to 2 inches (5 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit caves and crevices at depths of 15 - 70 feet (5 - 20 m) and live in small groups sometimes found hovering under the roof of caves, usually upside down, a behavior that may carry over to captivity
General Husbandry: Prefer a temperature of 75 - 79°F (24 - 26°C). Peaceful and can be kept in groups, as long all are introduced at the same time. Hardy, but shy, and need sufficient hiding places, and prefers a dimly lit environment. An excellent reef fish and feeds on mysis, brine shrimp, fish flesh, and other meaty type foods. Do not keep with fishes or crustaceans small enough to be eaten or with belligerent tankmates.
