Species Name: Pseudanthias ventralis (Randall, 1979)
Range: Western and Southern Pacific Ocean: mainly from the Cook Islands
Size: up to 2 inches (5 cm)
Natural Environment: Inhabit deep reef faces and slopes/drop-off areas, usually below 100 feet
General Husbandry: Prefer a water temperature of 68 - 76°F (20 - 24°C). Maintain in an aquarium with subdued lighting. Quite timid and should not be housed with any aggressive fishes. Require exceptional water quality, good water movement and numerous feedings per day. Diet consists mainly of meaty foodstuffs, e.g., mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and enriched fresh fish and shrimp flesh. Difficult to maintain and shy, but worth a try as this is a real beauty!
